I'm wondering how to change the password for the wireless router from the default one to my own password? I want to change tee Wpa Key to something that I can remember better.

Most likely your router will have a web page interface. You can get to it usually by typing
in the address for it into your browser, and most often the address is something like
192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 - if neither of those work, look in your router's manual to find
out what the default address.
Now, you can log in to manage your router, again your router will have a default user
name and password. This varies with each router, so again reference your manual.
Once you are logged in, you should see a number of options, among them will be to
change the wifi passphrase, change the wifi name displayed when devices search and find
your router, etc.
It's not too complicated. Generally you don't want to mess with the advanced settings
unless you know what you're doing, but the good news is that these interfaces, in my
experience, are very accessible as they are a simple text web page usually.
Good luck. If you don't have a manual, search online for one based on your router brand
and model, you'll find one.

Some modern routers use the final digit of 100 instead of 0 or 1.
Other than that, Shaydz is right.
I found NetGear to have the best web interface for routers. Now we have an Airport Extreme in the house, which uses an app instead.

I'm not sure what brand our ruter is, but I do know that it is from Verizon. How do I look up the default router address without the manual?

To be safe type the following in the run dialog:
http://192.168.0.1
You should get a dialog asking for a username and password. Username is typically
admin
password is usually
password
or
1234
Now you can monkey with the numbers for the IP address as mentioned in earlier posts, if the one I supplied does not actually work right.
Best bet is look up your router online and get a manual.

I have had routers with the password admin, or the name of the carrier (so in your case,
verizon), or sometimes leave it blank. The user name is almost always admin.
It is a good idea to change these once you are logged in, especially the password, so that
anyone on your network that you give the passphrase to can't change your router
settings.

i called them and gave them permition to change my password over the phone. you'll need to use that big ass long password on the side of your router in order to log into it. and no, i don't know what default username Verizon uses.

16 or 24 yes.
Verizon uses the addresses they gave you.
You can change the length of the password, you'll find an option for this.
Verizon has information on the website for all the modems, or routers they sale.
If you want it set back to defaults, in case you got it from someone, you have a button on it.
You press that button and hold it after starting it up.
To start it is as simple as unplugging it, and plugging it back up.
Now the password and user name will most likely be what you've been told here.
Admin and password.
Now you can do your own thing.
If you have more difficulty, simply call them and ask.
